CBD is the non-psychoactive ingredient in cannabis, as is known for providing its number health benefits, despite being illegal in most places. It has been discussed for many years, however hasn’t been properly tested and researched in the UK, as opposed to places like America – where it’s available upon prescription for certain illnesses, in which it has proven to be highly effective in providing many health benefits such as relieving pain, spasms and even shrinking brain tumours.
William, a 4-year-old from Nottingham, was diagnosed with a brain tumour the size of a golf ball, after his parents realised his head was tilting slightly to the side, and taking him to the GP only to be referred to the ear, nose and throat hospital, but was rushed to A&E before his appointment.
Brain and spinal tumours are proven to be the biggest fatal cancers within under 18’s in the UK, and other than chemo and radiotherapy, which is known for having many negative side effects, there isn’t much other ‘gentler’ treatment out there. Cannabidiol has shown to be beneficial in aiding the reduction of cancers, which in William’s case, significantly reduced the size of his cancerous tumour within as quick as 6 months.
Some countries have acted on this significant development in the medicinal world, and legalised the use of cannabis and CBD oil. Cannabis Oil has shown to be highly effective in providing many health benefits, within both preventing and curing illness. Scientists have begun the process of testing CBD oil for shrinking tumours, by adding cannabidiol to one cancerous brain, and not the other. William has begun the process of consuming cannabidiol “We started William on a low-carbohydrate diet and cannabidiol. Six months later, his tumour had shrunk by two-thirds.” However, some scientists believe that this could be due to a number of factors, and may not specifically be results of the CBD.
